1928 $1 MS65 PCGS. The low-mintage 1928 dollar (360,649 pieces) had the reputation of being a "cornerstone dollar" after the Treasury Department released only a few in the year of coinage, saying, according to David Bowers (1993): " ... that such were available for cornerstone-laying or other ceremonial purposes." This created the notion that the 1928 was exceedingly rare, but later large quantities were released. The Gem in this lot displays highly lustrous surfaces that yield sharply struck design elements. Well preserved surfaces are visited by occasional wisps of light tan.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
