<B>1927-S 5C MS64 NGC.</B></I> Ex: Richmond Collection. Due to the pronounced rarity of Gem condition coins of this issue, near-Gem examples like this one occupy a more prominent place in the Buffalo nickel marketplace than they might otherwise enjoy. The surfaces are boldly struck, with minor weakness noted on the letters of LIBERTY, and on the bison's head and tail. The satiny surfaces are moderately toned in gray and golden colors with accents of magenta and moss-green. A small, diagonal contact mark is mentioned midway across the bison's chest. A solid near-Gem example of this scarce date, which is hard to find better than VF.
