1927-S 50C MS65 PCGS. The San Francisco Mint struck ha
1927-S<50C> MS65 PCGS. The San Francisco Mint struck half dollars in 1921, then waited two years before striking the 1923 issue, then waited four more years before striking the 1927 issue. Most immediately went into circulation, and even those that did not are notable strike rarities, as well as condition rarities. While this example is not fully struck through the centers, its strike is clearly superior to the usually encountered Mint State specimen. The surface preservation is immaculate, with good luster and light copper-gray and russet toning on both sides. Some light die striae, as made, show above the sun on the obverse. There are no abrasions of any consequence visible. A superior coin for a fine Gem date set, and an extremely elusive issue. Population: 54 in 65, 6 finer (6/06).
