1927-S 25C MS66 PCGS. Quarter production at the San Francisco Mint amounted to just 396,000 pieces in 1927, the vast majority of which probably entered circulation. There is no doubt that the '27-S is one of the most widely known keys to the Standing Liberty Quarter series. While many collectors would be content to own a lightly circulated survivor, the present lot offers a high end Gem that is sure to see spirited bidder competition in Long Beach. The luster quality is simply extraordinary, both sides being awash in shimmering mint frost. The lightest champagne tinting adorns smooth surfaces that are silent on the subject of noticeable abrasions. The strike is a little soft over some of the highpoints--a feature that most Mint State survivors of this issue display--but the eye appeal is extraordinary, nonetheless. From The Hans Poetsch Collection.
