1927-S 25C AU50 PCGS. Quarter production at the S
1927-S<25C> AU50 PCGS. Quarter production at the San Francisco Mint was limited to just 396,000 coins this year, and it is likely that the vast majority entered commerce and stayed there for more than 30 years. Today, even lightly circulated survivors can be difficult to locate, such as the AU50 specimen that we offer here. The surfaces are a bright silvery-gray, with some faded violet-blue accents on the obverse motif, retain luster in the protected areas, and are quite clean. Just a few minute marks are noted on Liberty's upper left leg. Considering the fact that this issue come weakly struck, the design features on the current example are relatively well impressed. The details on the inner shield, and the eagle's torso feathers are weak, as is usually the case. A nice all around-looking coin that will fit comfortably into a high grade circulated Standing Liberty quarter set.
