1927-S<10C> MS65 Full Bands PCGS. This example has a silvery-gray obverse with light copper-gold and lilac-blue toning, while the reverse is largely brilliant. The obverse shows a number of small die cracks. One runs from the rim left of the date, along the neck rim to Liberty's hair at the back of the neck. Another branches from this crack and runs straight up the neck to the hair. A crack that is frequently seen on Mercury dimes of all dates runs from the wingtip to the rim. Under examination with a loupe, the cheek shows two marks, one a light scrape, the other possibly a small planchet flaw, with a few minor reverse ticks and abrasions. Pleasing and attractive. Population: 28 in 65, 10 finer (11/05).
From The Larry Shapiro #1 All-Time Finest Mercury Dimes Full Bands Basic PCGS Registry Set.
