<B>1927 Lew Fonseca Game Used Bat.</B></I> A very tough signature model bat from the 1929 American League batting champion. We surmise that the bat must have been used during the 1927 season, as ancient grease pencil on the barrel reads "3-1-28." It is likely that this date was written by a Hillerich & Bradsby employee who received this bat from Fonseca for duplication, as the writing is similar to that on other sidewritten specimens. The grip is shaved to Fonseca's personal preference, and fine use is clearly evident, from the cracked handle (expertly repaired with several ancient nails) to the wear and cleat marks on the wood of the barrel. Measures thirty-four inches in length, at a weight of thirty-seven and a half ounces. Arguably the finest Fonseca bat available in the hobby.
