1927 $2 1/2 MS66 NGC. While the 1927 shares its relative availability with the other quarter eagle issues of the 1920s, in grades above Gem, this issue is considerably more challenging than its 1925-D or 1926 counterparts, with MS66 the highest grade awarded by either NGC or PCGS (7/07). Garrett and Guth (2006) comment on the elusive nature of finer pieces: "If one desires the lofty (and current top) grade of MS66, substantial patience will likely be required as a few years may pass between offerings of this condition rarity ... "
With the present piece up for sale, what collectors need now is not patience, but a willingness to bid. This amazing Premium Gem exhibits uncommonly vibrant luster and strong detail. The shining sun-gold and orange-gold surfaces are free of mentionable distractions, and the coin's eye appeal is breathtaking. In sum, a simply wonderful representative.

Coin Engraver: Bela Lyon Pratt

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information\)
