1926 Ty Cobb Wire Photographs Lot of 2
1926 Ty Cobb Wire Photographs Lot of 2. From the personal collection of former Yankees bat boy Joe Glassenberg, whose Ruth, Gehrig and McGraw signed photos appear within this auction, comes this pair of news images picturing the brilliant Cobb plating two runs at Yankee Stadium. The young Glassenberg collected wire images in which he appeared, and we find him tending to his bat boy duties in the foreground of each. He also notes in pencil on the verso of each the details of the image, listing all pictured as well as the descriptive phrases "Cobb Tallying on Homer the 112th of Career" and "Cobb sliding safely." If only Glassenberg had held onto the bats! We'll have to be satisfied with these very tough Cobb action shots instead, each sepia image measuring 8x10" in size. Typical edge and corner wear is to be noted, but each will present very nicely when matted and framed.
