1926-S 5C MS65 PCGS. David Lange, in his The Complete Guide to Buffalo Nickels, Third Edition, wrote of the 1926-S that unworn examples were "very scarce" and that Gem pieces were "nearly unknown." They may be far from common, but one such example is offered here, among the best-preserved of the 970,000 pieces originally coined. The highly lustrous surfaces are predominantly lavender-blue with crescents of pumpkin-orange at the upper left obverse and the right reverse. The fields and devices are clean, as befits a Gem, and while a measure of softness is noted at the highpoints of the design, the bison's shoulder and tail retain some definition. An impressive Gem that would make an excellent addition to a high-grade date set.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
