1926-S<5C> MS64 PCGS. This issue has long been acknowledged as the business strike key date to the Buffalo nickel series, with a low mintage of 970,000 pieces. But its low mintage only tells part of the story. The '26-S is also a highly respected strike rarity, generally considered second in the series only to the 1925-S. This piece is only slightly soft on the obverse. On the reverse the striking details are weak on the bison's head and shoulder areas, but otherwise show decent details on the other highpoints. A very respectable degree of satin luster is noted, along with minimally abraded surfaces that only show two or three tiny contact marks. Attractive and original light toning covers both sides of this important and rarely offered key issue in the Buffalo nickel series.
