1926-S $20 MS64 PCGS. The 1926-S was once considered the third rarest Saint-Gaudens Twenty after the 1924-S and 1926-D. How times have changed. Repatriations from European banks in the 1950s and 1960s have resulted in the '26-S obtaining the distinction of being the most plentiful mintmarked Double Eagle of the 1924-1927 era. Of course, all D and S-mint deliveries from this time frame are still scarce when viewed in the wider context of the series. This is one of the most beautiful '26-S Double Eagles that this cataloger has handled. Medium gold color overlays most areas, but splashes of light reddish-gold tinting adorn the centers as well as the lower obverse and upper reverse peripheries. Fully lustrous with few abrasions that would seem to preclude an even higher grade. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
