1926-S<10C> MS67 Full Bands PCGS. Another perennially popular date, one that coin dealers and collectors never seem to have enough of, and one that is difficult to find in grades above Fine. Choice AU coins are scarce, and high Mint State coins, especially with Full Bands, are found about as often as the proverbial hen's teeth. This coin, like the 1925-S discussed previously, shows evidence of vigorous die polishing. The luster is satiny, but there is a blush of transparent lilac-blue toning on both sides. Some small patches around Liberty's head are highly polished and prooflike, a phenomenon that Lange calls "die burn." The strike is bold on the central bands, which are fully separated. Indeed, the strike is bold throughout, even on the reverse periphery where the strike is often weak. Liberty's highpoint hair curls and wing feathers are pleasingly sculptural in their details. Intense scrutiny with a glass shows a small handful of trivial marks, none worthy of mention, mostly confined to the reverse. Of the many exemplary coins in this superlative collection, this coin is sure to be singled out, not only as a semi-key date in the Mercury dime series, and not only as a semi-key Superb Gem coin, but a semi-key Superb Gem Full Bands coin that also offers the ultimate and most elusive quality: incredible eye appeal.
