1926-S<10C> MS66 PCGS. While the 1926-S is fairly common in grades Good through Fine, higher-grade circulated pieces are scarce, and Mint State coins are quite difficult to locate. PCGS and NGC have certified fewer than 160 Uncirculated examples, of which less than 10 fall into the Premium Gem category, and no more than five grade finer. Moreover, this is one of the most difficult coins in the entire series to locate with full bands. The current MS66 piece is sharply struck, and while the middle bands are not fully rounded, they are nearly split. Lustrous surfaces display a blend of cobalt-blue, gold-tan, and lavender patination. A few minor handling marks on the cheek and neck do not detract from the overall eye appeal of this highly desirable specimen. Population: 5 in 66, 1 finer (6/06).
