George Gershwin 1926 Typed Letter Signed With a Superb Large and Vividly Illustrated Autograph Musical Quotation "Rhapsody in Blue"!
GEORGE GERSHWIN (1898-1937). Popular American Composer of Porgy & Bess fame.
August 22, 1926-Dated, Typed Letter Signed, "George Gershwin" with Autograph Musical Quotation, 1 page, measuring 7.5" x 10.25", on "George Gershwin" personal letterhead stationery with original deckle edges, no place, Choice Crisp Near Mint. This wonderful, Illustrated Letter is written to "Dear Mr. Suthpin" and is extremely clean having just a few scattered ink specks. Below his huge ink signature, “George Gershwin” measuring 3” long, he has also penned a large and vivid Musical Quotation from his iconic "Rhapsody in Blue". Here, George Gershwin writes, in full:

"Dear Mr. Suthpin: --- I hope you will excuse this rather belated reply, but I have spent the last few months abroad. Of course I will gladly give you my autograph, and feel honored to be placed among your collection. -- Most sincerely, -- (Signed) George Gershwin." Below is a Handwritten 3.5” long, vivid Musical Quotation titled, "Rhapsody in Blue".

Gershwin composed "Rhapsody in Blue" in 1924 for solo piano which combines classical music with jazz influenced effects. The composition established Gershwin's reputation as a serious composer and has since become one of the most popular American concert works. A wonderful, truly rare example and a major highlight for any collection, embodying the essence of American Composer George Gershwin.
