<Our item number 127813>1926-D $20 St. Gaudens. PCGS graded MS-64. PCGS holder number 116894. Very rare date. Lovely rich golden toning. Double eagle connoisseurs will agree, the '26-D is one of the key dates in the series. As such, it is difficult to find in Mint State, with the few extant specimens clustering in Mint State 60 to 62 grades. Mintage fell to 481,000 for the year, virtually all of which circulated. A few ended up in Swiss banks, of all places, but far too few to go around when date-and-mintmark collecting got going in the 1960s. Turning to the rarity in MS64 condition, this coin is virtually priced out of reach any higher. The color of the coin is spectacular, with warm shades of luster in all areas, with reddish tints predominating. The strike is sharp. Further, we note no weakness on either side. There are a couple of small marks on Liberty's leg above the knee, a little tick on the eagle's body near the sun rays above D-WE, but a glass is needed to see it. One of the m ost desirable double eagle rarities in full blistering MS64 condition, and worthy of the finest praise. Pop 16; 7 finer, 5 in 65, 2 in 66 (PCGS # 9184).
Estimated Value $65,000 - 70,000.
Ex: Hesselgesser Collection.

Our item number 127813
<IMAGES>

</IMAGES>
