1926-D $20 MS64 PCGS.
1926-D $20 MS64 PCGS. Once regarded as one of the two most prized rarities in the entire Saint-Gaudens series, the '26-D is now often overlooked as one of the elite Saints, a rather harsh assessment of an issue that seems to only appear when major gold collections are sold (as here in the North Shore Collection). The typically encountered example is no better than MS 60 to MS 62, and significantly finer pieces are of the highest order of rarity. This uncommonly choice representative is boldly struck and notable for liberal splashes of beautiful orange patina. Several small, but relatively deep abrasions on the obverse rule out any aspirations to a Gem rating, yet the overall appeal of this high grade 1926-D would be difficult to improve upon. Population: 9 in 64, 6 finer (10/03). Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
