1926-D $20 MS61 PCGS. Decades ago, the 1926-D was a prized rarity within the series of Saint-Gaudens double eagles. Since the 1970s when a steady stream of gold coins formerly held in European bank vaults found their way back to the United States, rarity rankings have been dramatically adjusted. As a result, this once elite issue is now somewhat underappreciated when compared to other former rarities. Both the strike and luster on this dazzling reddish-gold example are the equal of much higher graded examples, but a deep, lengthy vertical abrasion along the right obverse border necessitates a more conservative rating. Population: 16 in 61, 92 finer (11/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
