1926-27 Charles Comiskey Signed Letters Lot of 6
1926-27 Charles Comiskey Signed Letters Lot of 6. Villain to some, hero to others, this founding father of the American League represents a notable challenge for Hall of Fame autograph collectors. We had considered offering the letters presented here individually but decided instead to keep them together in a single lot, as it offers an interesting historical insight into the contractual negotiations between this baseball pioneer and former Detroit Tigers pitcher Bert Cole. Not only are we supplied with Comiskey's side of the story, but Cole pencils his intended response upon the Comiskey letters, providing the other half of the conversation as well. Comiskey's closing black ink signatures are uniformly 10/10, and the gorgeous official White Sox letterhead presents no flaws beyond the original mailing folds. A seventh letter is included as well, signed secretarially. A single, typed mailing envelope is the final piece in the lot. The collection comes to us from the granddaughter of Cole, who supplied us with the magnificent 1922 Detroit Tigers uniform presented in our May 2007 auction. LOA from PSA/DNA.
