<B>1926<$20> MS67 NGC.</B></I> The 1926 Saint-Gaudens issue is very common in Mint State grades up to and including MS66, where almost 800 coins have been encapsulated by NGC and PCGS combined. Go one grade level higher, however, and the picture changes completely, as a mere seven examples have been found worthy by the two major services.<BR> It is easy to see why NGC has graded this piece as a Superb Gem. The beautiful design details have been crisply and evenly articulated throughout, and impressive luster shines from the nearly pristine surfaces. Trivial stacking marks are noted on the sun, for the sake of accuracy. The lovely coloration is a blended combination of amber, golden, and rose patina, with a bit of silver-white toning distributed over the eagle.
