1925-D<5C> MS66 PCGS. The 1925-D is among the worst produced of all D-mint Nickels and is one of the great strike rarities in the Buffalo series. In terms of luster quality and lack of contact marks this coin is nothing less than remarkable. The central design motif on each side is very well brought up, actually about a strongly defined as one is ever likely to find a '25-D. This is not to say the coin is fully struck, as one might expect from a Philadelphia coin, but there is no general or localized striking softness worthy of mention. Just a hint of pale golden patina lightly coats each side with complete, satiny underlying luster. In researching our auction records, we find this is the single finest 1925-D Nickel we have had the pleasure to offer. Total population PCGS and NGC combined: 6 in 66, none are finer (3/05).
