1925-D $20 MS64 PCGS. Many newly minted '25-D twenties ended up in Europe as exchange payments and remained stored in banks Switzerland and France. Large quantities of the nearly 3 million-piece mintage thus escaped the melting furnaces in the 1930s, and began to return to the U.S. in the 1950s and 1960s. About 650 Mint State coins have been graded by PCGS and NGC, most of which are in the MS60 to MS63 grade range.
The near-Gem specimen offered in this lot exhibits apricot-gold patina with traces of light tan. The design elements are adequately brought up, with nice definition on the fingers of Liberty's left hand and on the toes. A few small abrasions account for the grade, the most noticeable occurring on the Capitol building and on the obverse rim at 7 o'clock. Population: 74 in 64, 5 finer (10/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
