1925-D $20 MS63 PCGS. Nearly 3 million examples of this date were originally struck, and nearly 3 million were later melted, probably in the mid to late 1930s. Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth wrote in their Encyclopedia of U.S. Gold Coins: "Like the 1924-D and 1924-S issues, the vast quantity of these coins ended up in the melting pot during the late 1930s, and the seemingly large mintage was virtually eliminated." The exact number that still exist today is not known, but the quantity is certainly under 1,000 coins, and might be less than 500. This brilliant Mint State example is a satiny piece with lustrous yellow-gold surfaces and faint traces of light pink toning. Only a few trivial surface marks are evident, and the strike is above average.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
