1924-S 5C MS65 PCGS. Among Buffalo nickels from the 1920s, the 1924-S has the second-lowest production, greater than only the key 1926-S. In addition, Lange (2006) grants them a tie for first place for the most elusive issue in Mint State. This satiny Gem has rich honey and slate-gray patina over each side and is surprisingly mark-free with minimal carbon. The strike is razor-sharp throughout the margins, and only a touch of softness is noted on the Indian's braid. The obverse displays this issue's often-found "chin whiskers" die clash and the corresponding impression of the Indian's chin on the opposite side, near the motto. An excellent candidate for the Registry collector who insists upon the finest. PCGS has awarded a higher grade to only one coin (4/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
