1924-S<5C> MS64 PCGS. The 1926-S and 1924-S are tied for the lowest certified populations in Mint State grades, according to Lange's Buffalo nickel reference. While the 1924-S is generally found adequately struck and mostly spared from the technical problems that plague some other issues such as, notably, the 1921-S, they are seldom fully struck. This piece shows better than average strike quality, with weakness mostly limited to the braid, the top of the bison's head, and on the shoulder. The horn is fully struck, although not boldly so. The surfaces are a light, even gray-gold, free of distracting contact marks or spots. PCGS has graded 33 finer (6/06).
