1924-S $20 MS64 PCGS.
1924-S $20 MS64 PCGS. The 1924-S is similar to most other issues in the Saint-Gaudens series in that the original mintage of 2.3 million coins is irrelevant when judging the relative rarity and number of survivors extant today. This, of course, is because of the extensive meltings that occurred in the 1930s, forever removing millions of Saints from the numismatic marketplace. At one time the 1924-S was considered the rarest issue in the series. Its glory days faded, however, when a number of pieces were found in Europe and shipped back to the U.S. Today, the '24-S is a scarce issue but one that is available to the dedicated collector. This issue is not known for an abundance of luster, and this particular coin shows softly frosted luster rather than the bright mint luster usually seen on San Francisco products. The striking details are strong throughout with only the tiniest abrasions present that prevent a full Gem grade. Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
