1924-S $20 MS63 PCGS. CAC. The Guide Book reports that nearly 3 million 1924-S double eagles were struck. That statistic is meaningless, since the vast majority of those pieces never left Treasury vaults prior to Roosevelt's gold recall. While hundreds of thousands of 1924 twenties made it overseas to safety, the 1924-S was heavily melted, and only several hundred survived. This lustrous yellow-gold example has a few minor marks on the sun, the obverse and eagle are unblemished, and have the look of a finer grade.
From The Parker Lee III Collection.

Coin Engraver: Augustus Saint-Gaudens

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
