<B>1924-S $20 MS62 PCGS.</B></I> Like many dates in the series that are scarce or rare today, nearly all of the nearly 3 million coins minted were melted a decade later. In the past 50 years, small quantities have returned from European holdings, and these are the coins available today. Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth write: "During the 1940s and 1950s, it was generally believed that fewer than a half-dozen examples of this date existed!" This example is a pleasing satiny Mint State piece with light yellow-gold luster and good eye appeal.
