1924-D<5C> MS65 PCGS. Since the early 1950s, this issue has been one of the keys to the Buffalo nickel series. It has always been considered an absolute rarity, and since the 1970s its status as a condition and strike rarity has been undisputed. This piece is typical for the issue regarding strike. The bison's head is weak, but this is most likely the case on all '24-D nickels, so while it needs to be noted it actually has no effect on the grade of the coin. The surfaces are exceptionally bright and satiny with light golden toning over each side and just a touch of lilac over the highpoints. An important coin for the collector of this All-American series of coinage. Population: 77 in 65, 1 finer (7/06).
