<B>1924-D $20 MS64 NGC.</B></I> The 1924-D is an interesting issue for two reasons. First, it has a reputation, along with other issues of this date and mintmark, to be poorly produced. This was apparently a policy decision in the Denver mint in 1924 and the results are seen on most denominations. Second, several small hoards have been discovered since the mid-1950s that have increased the availability of this former rarity. However, it is seldom available any finer than MS64. The only areas of overuse of dies is weakness seen at the bottom of the obverse, and softness of detail around the peripheries on each side.
