1924 50C Huguenot MS67 PCGS. Ex: Troy Wiseman Collecti
1924<50C> Huguenot MS67 PCGS. The issue commemorates the tercentenary of New Netherland, a settlement on the eastern coast of North America that became a province of the Dutch Republic in 1624. But this interesting commemorative coin depicts two leaders in the fight for religious freedom and tolerance--Admiral Gaspard de Coligny and William I of Orange-Nassau, better known as William the Silent--both of whom had died several decades before the establishment of the province (de Coligny in 1572, William the Silent in 1584). This appealing representative has sparkling luster with mostly untoned, silver-gold surfaces that are well struck and show almost no abrasions. Population: 35 in 67, 0 finer (8/06).
From The Troy Wiseman Collection.
