1923-S 5C MS65 NGC.
1923-S 5C MS65 NGC. After not having produced any Nickels since 1921, the San Francisco Mint returned to the fray in the later months of 1923. The vast majority of the 6.1 million pieces delivered in the latter year entered circulation, providing a sizeable pool from which hoarders in the 1940s and 1950s could draw. This fact, coupled with seemingly chronic striking difficulties at the San Francisco Mint, explains why so few Gems are extant. Far superior to the typically offered Uncirculated survivor, this coin is sharply struck over virtually all features. Satin luster shimmers beneath a generous overlay of reddish-orange color that is accented with sky-blue tones. One thing that we do not see, however, is a distracting blemish, be it an abrasion or a carbon spot. Population: 21 in 65, 3 finer (11/03). Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
