<B>1923-S<50C> Monroe MS66 PCGS.</B></I> Monroe halves are now considered a condition rarity in the commemorative series. Pieces approaching Gem condition are quite available; however, in loftier grades, the situation changes dramatically. In MS66, the Monroe is exceptionally difficult to locate, with less than a dozen known finer. The luster on this piece is simply outstanding, being thick and frosted. Both sides show deep peripheral rings of reddish-russet and aqua-blue colors with much underlying brilliance still in evidence. The surfaces are exceedingly lustrous and only lightly marked, as one would expect for the grade. Population: 46 in 66, 4 finer (9/06).
