<B>1923-S 50C Monroe MS65 PCGS.</B></I> The commemorative coins that ostensibly commemorated the centennial of the Monroe Doctrine were actually linked to a Los Angeles exposition designed to rehabilitate the reputation of the film industry, which had become tawdry even before audiences could hear the actors speak. The present example is an elusive Gem, well-preserved with slightly above-average strike and luster.
