1923-S<50C> Monroe MS64 PCGS. Pewter gray toning in the central areas changes to varied hues of gold, pink, blue, and violet at the peripheries. A narrow planchet inclusion can be seen on the obverse that extends from the bridge of Monroe's nose to the back of Adams' head. Although issued in substantial quantity, only a few original owners preserved their examples with care, and accordingly many survivors seen are in the AU50 to MS62 grade range. MS63 specimens are quite scarce, and those grading MS64 or finer command substantial premiums.
