<B>1923-S $1 MS65 PCGS.</B></I> A condition rarity is defined as a coin that appears to be common, but seldom seen in high grades. Such is the case with the '23-S Peace dollar, with a mintage of 19 million coins, and enough examples available that any collector can acquire an attractive piece. However, survivors in full Gem condition are seldom encountered. For example PCGS has only certified 100 MS65 examples, and just three finer coins. This translates to one Gem for every 190,000 coins originally minted! The present example is slightly soft at the central obverse, but with all other details generally sharp.
