<B>1923 New York Yankees Team Wire Photograph, Type 1.</B></I> Exquisite team shot of the mighty Yanks finds the entire team posing in front of a sparsely populated grandstand at the infant Yankee Stadium before a game. A newspaper clipping of the photo remains affixed to the verso, under a headline of "American League Pennant Winners," and the subsequent text goes on to say, "By defeating the St. Louis Browns on Thursday, the New York Yankees clinched their third consecutive American league pennant..." Each team member is identified, and a stamped date of "Sep 23 1923." is applied just below. The photo remains in technical VG-EX condition, though it presents far better. Hand applied photo editing markings are clearly visible, and one can see how these darkened lines improve the newspaper printed version. With vintage baseball photography finally beginning to get its due in the collecting community, one certainly can't go wrong with a majestic team shot of the first Yankee World Champions.
