Provenance:

A letter written by Nancy Campbell, wife of Joseph, dated the 26th of February 1923, explaining that her husband is a Republican prisoner in Mountjoy Prison and enclosing a poem in Joseph Campbell's handwriting, written in 1922. Joseph Campbell was interned for 18 months during the period of the civil war after opposing the Anglo-Irish Treaty. A widely respected and well known poet he is perhaps best remembered for his translation of "My Lagan Love"
