1922 letter to Hugh Kennedy, Attorney General to the Provisional Government, possibly referring to one of the stolen Crown Jewels, with other letters.
manuscript, various sizes

Official communication from the Law Office in Upr Merrion Street (on Rialtas Sealadach notepaper): “Dear H, Called here as I learned that the Mace [underlined] was reclining under [a] bed in top front tenement room at Arran Quay. Have told Mr. McGann and he has become active.Spoke to Cope today and he is to speak to you and Mr Collins. I have not been speaking to you about it before. Anything re. Parliament? Yours, G.H.”This enigmatic note may refer to one of two Maces stolen as part of the Irish Crown Jewels from Dublin Castle back in July 1907. President W.T. Cosgrave was on record in 1927 for believing they were then being offered for sale and he was anxious to recover them for the Irish State.
Also with this lot three letters written by Kennedy to the Secretary of the Finance Department exuding venom, concerning his salary and expenses, the latter incurred during Treaty negotiations in London and as a delegate to The League of Nations.
