You can hold a piece of never before seen history in your hand. The Peace Silver Dollars were minted in Philadelphia from 1921 until 1928 to commemorate the end of World War I. After changes in legislation, the coins were minted again in 1934 and 1935. Production of the coins was once again halted in 1935 due to the Great Depression.

Peace Dollars are often considered the last true silver dollar because they are made up of 90 percent fine silver and have a weight of .77344 troy ounces. The remaining 10 percent of the coin is comprised of copper. Peace Dollars can have inherent value because they are also the last coin the U.S. minted from real silver. Following the Great Depression, the U.S. no longer minted coins with precious metals. The Peace Dollar was designed by Anthony de Francisci, whose wife, Teresa, fulfilled her childhood dream of modeling for Lady Liberty.
