<B>1922-S $20 MS62 NGC.</B></I> The 1922-S double eagle has a mintage nearly double that of the 1922, and its mintage is more than four times that of the 1923. Yet the 1922-S is scarce in Mint State, while the 1922 and 1923 are plentiful. The difference is in the distribution. Presumably, most of the 1922-S mintage was retained in Treasury vaults, and melted after the 1933 gold recall. This moderately abraded piece has vivacious luster and a good strike.
