1922 No D 1C Weak Reverse MS63 Red PCGS. Die pair thre
1922 No D 1C Weak Reverse MS63 Red PCGS. Die Pair Three. Outstanding condition for this rare Lincoln cent, with very few known that show so much Red. The strike is typically soft on the reverse, as the die was literally worn out, even the obverse die shows wear, and most importantly no trace of the "D" Mintmark. Clean surfaces that have minimal signs of handling and no distracting bagmarks. One tiny trace of carbon on Lincoln's shoulder is found with a strong loupe. The Denver Mint obviously let quality control go away while trying to churn out the expected 7 million D-Mint Lincoln cents that year, and as the dies wore out completely, the mintmark disappeared, and the wheat ears and legends grew steadily weaker and less distinct. A prize for the specialist. Population: 4 in 63, 3 finer (12/05).
