1922 No D<1C> Strong Reverse XF40 ANACS. FS-013.2. Die #2. Olive and rose hues envelop this sharp (for the issue) key date Lincoln Cent. An inconspicuous handling mark behind Lincoln's head and shoulder cannot be seen by the naked eye. The Philadelphia Mint did not strike Cents in 1922, for the first time since 1815, to comply with the terms of the Pittman Act. This fact opened the door to 1922 No D varieties struck in Denver from worn dies. Die #2 is coveted since no trace of the mintmark is on the die, removed when the die was lapped by mint personnel and paired with a fresh reverse die.
From The Allan W.
