1922 No D 1C Strong Reverse MS63 Brown PCGS. Die Pair Two. There are three known die pairs of this popular 20th century error, but examples of the present variety command the most respect and highest prices in the market. We, like most other numismatic auction houses, have handled more than our fair share of circulated 1922 No D Cents of Die Pair Two. Few numismatists, however, will see, let alone handle a solidly graded Mint State survivor. This error seems to have gone unnoticed for many years after delivery. In all likelihood, the present example survived in Mint State purely by chance. It is an attractive coin whose eye appeal is superior to the assigned grade. Rich medium brown toning overlays both sides in a generally even manner. The reverse is expectantly sharp for the die pair, but we also note appreciably bold definition on the obverse. Free of outwardly distracting blemishes with a single splash of slightly deeper color at the lower reverse rim. Accuracy alone compels us to mention a few inconspicuous carbon flecks in the upper left obverse field. Population: 4 in 63 Brown, there is just one finer with this color designation (10/02). Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
