1922 No D 1C Strong Reverse MS62 Red and Brown PCGS.
1922 No D 1C Strong Reverse MS62 Red and Brown PCGS.<p>Die Pair Two. This variety is the most highly prized of the three die pairs of 1922 No D Cents. Mint employees inadvertently removed the D mintmark from the obverse while polishing the die to remove clashmarks. As a result of the damage sustained by and the work done to this die, the obverse definition on the present example is typically soft for the variety. The reverse is, however, characteristically sharp. Remnants of mint luster intermingle with streaky steel-brown toning on the obverse. The appearance on the reverse is opposite with similar colored toning in dominance. A small carbon fleck on the obverse at the back of Lincoln's head is the only mentionable distraction, and it is a minor one at that.
