1922 No D 1C Strong Reverse MS62 Brown PCGS. Die Pair
1922 No D<1C> Strong Reverse MS62 Brown PCGS. FS-013.2. Die Pair 2. Another charming Lincoln cent that the easy word "Brown" simply fails to describe. There is much muted red, orange and gold on each side--even on the usually drab obverse--along with glowing mint luster on both sides. Indeed, if the obverse were as appealing as the reverse, this coin would likely garner a Red and Brown designation. This is the Strong Reverse die pair, by far the most desirable of the three die marriages that produced the 1922 No D and Weak D cents. Die Pair 2 is easily distinguished not only by the strength of the reverse detail, but also by the last 2 in the date which is stronger than the first; on Die Pairs 1 and 3, the first 2 is stronger than the last. The reverse here shows bold separation and only a couple of tiny ticks; the obverse shows some light flyspecks and contact marks that determine the grade. Nonetheless a nice piece, one highly deserving one or more strong bids. Population: 17 in 62 Brown, 9 finer (9/06).
