1922 No D<1C> Strong Reverse MS62 Brown PCGS. All 1922 Lincoln Cents were struck in Denver, and this was the first year that the Philadelphia Mint failed to strike a one-cent coin in over 100 years, since 1815. This outstanding example is from "Die Pair 2," with a strong reverse, the only one of three varieties that can truly be called a "No D" cent. These used to be called 1922 "Plain" cents, but the "No D" designation is a more apt description. Three different die pairs exist for these coins, but those designated Die Pair 1 and Die Pair 3 each have weak reverse details, and are not nearly as desirable. In addition, most examples from the two fringe die pairings actually show faint traces of the mintmark. This lovely example has glossy surfaces with pleasing olive-brown color and faint bluish accents on the highest design points. Population: 12 in 62 Brown, 9 finer (11/05).
From The Ron Bozarth Registry Collection.
