Large cigarette case hallmarked Chester 1918. Engraved "Presented to J. H. Norritt Esq., General Secretary The Harland & Wolff Recreation and Athletic Association Belfast in recognition of loyal services 1922."Sir James Henry Norritt was born in 1888 the son of a Canadian father and an Irish mother. He was raised in Antrim and Down and worked as a clerk. He became involved in politics and in 1913 signed the Ulster Covenant. He served as Deputy Lord Mayor for Belfast from 1948-49 and was Lord Mayor for the Ulster Unionist Party from 1951 to 1953. In 1953 Norritt was knighted and passed away in 1963 being buried in Dundonald Cemetery.
