1922-D 1C Weak D MS63 Red NGC. Die Pair 3. The D mintmark is indeed weak on this piece. Unlike Die Pair 1, which also shows a weak D and was struck from a weak reverse, this pairing differs with the O in ONE becoming distended. Both Die Pair 1 and 3 are distinctly different from Die Pair 2, which has a strong reverse. The first and third pairings were also caused by grease clogging the die in the area of the mintmark. This gradually wore away and more of the D became apparent. This is a rarely seen full red example. Both sides are evenly matched in color and overall appearance. Just a few small abrasions are scattered over each side, which account for the MS63 designation. A rare opportunity for the Lincoln cent collector.

Coin Engraver: Victor D.
