1921-S<50C> MS63 PCGS. Although the 1921-S has long been considered the key to the Walking Liberty half series in high grades, it was not always so. Numismatic author Anthony Swiatek has noted that a few decades ago, the 1921 P-mint issue was actually considered the scarcest of the three 1921 issues. He commented further that some persons may have actually removed the mintmarks from 1921-S half dollars to increase their value!
This example is essentially brilliant, with just a touch of gold patina on each side. The strike is pleasingly bold, with Liberty showing a partially split thumb and decent detailing on the head and the eagle. A few light abrasions--one on Liberty's lower legs, one on her left (facing) wrist, and one on the lower flag--account for the grade.
